A couple of healthy drinks other than milk for your kids

Milk provides the much-needed calcium to the kids. For kids who do need drink milk, this is a big problem for their mothers. The question always in their mind is what are the other drinks other than milk to provide their little ones with the essential calcium?

From the very childhood, kids are fed on milk. First mother’s milk than cow milk. Milk is an essential part of every kids’ diet.  There are some kids who are allergic to milk from their very childhood. Some face this problem when they are started feeding with cow milk. This happens because there is quite a lot taste difference between cow milk and mother’s milk. There are some others who don’t like drinking it as they get bored of it.

The calcium content required by kids at different age

  • toddlers (ages 1 to 3 years): 700 milligrams
  • kids (ages 4 to 8 years): 1000 milligrams
  • older kids (ages 9 to 18 years): 1,300 milligrams

Yes, I have a solution for all those mothers whose kids run away from milk. There is some homemade healthy kids’ drink which will provide their body with the needed calcium content.

Fruit juice

Consider giving your kid 100% fresh fruit juice. Fruits like oranges, pomegranate, cranberry, green apple, etc. not only provide vitamins but also provides calcium to the body. Fresh oranges are generally sweet plus a bit sour. This mixture of sweet-sour taste is loved by kids. It is one of the best homemade healthy kids’ drink. There are very fewer drawbacks of fruit juice as they contain natural sugar. Be sure, do not choose fruit with high sugar content if your kid is diabetic. Make a wise choice as to the fruit you choose.

Coconut water

Coconut water has an amazing sweet taste which kids love to drink. It is a good source of vitamin C, riboflavin, calcium, dietary fiber, magnesium, potassium, and manganese. Adding coconut water to your kids’ diet will definitely provide the missing calcium to his body. But, 1 thing you should keep in mind is that coconut water is though healthy still it shouldn’t be consumed more than 1 glass daily. The only drawback of coconut water is that it is high in calories.

Vegetable juice

This is the best option for kids’ healthy drinks. It not only a calcium substitute for milk but also a great choice if your little one doesn’t eat veggies. Vegetables like carrot, beet, tomato, spinach, etc. are a great source of vitamins C, K, B2, B3, and B6 along with needed fibers. Vegetables are the best anti-oxidants too. So, having a vegetable juice will keep your kid healthy.

Smoothies

You may think why I am mentioning smoothie over here when your kid runs away from milk only. You may substitute milk with curd. Substituting milk with curd makes these smoothies the most refreshing drinks other than milk. Curd also has better digestive properties. A blend of freshly frozen curd with fruits make it delicious. You can make a new type of smoothie every day by adding a different fruit. There are so many fruits available that your kid will never get bored of them. Adding berries makes it more delicious.
